Eat Clean. Dance Dirty.

I'm constantly asked by my students, "how did you lose the weight?" and "how do you keep it off?" The best way to describe it is... I eat clean and I dance dirty. Like many women, my weight and my slowing metabolism caught up in my thirties and I topped the scale at 200 pounds. I knew I needed to do something about it and I tried everything. It was a tough road because I had three big things working against me:

  1. I was never active as a child, hell, I even failed gym.
  2. I'm a picky eater.
  3. I have a painfully short attention span. "Squirrel!"

Oh, yeah... and I'm kinda lazy. However, through trial and error, I found my path. I learned to expand my food choices. I developed my own fitness program and have maintained a 70 pound weight loss for the last 8 years. While diet and exercise were crucial, I discovered that exotic dance was the key to my success.

Through dance, I finally found a physical activity that I could do every day. I learned to dance for myself but the most amazing thing that I gained from it was: I learned to love what I saw in the mirror. I began to love my body... even my pudge.
